It seemed a natural choice that Timm Delaney was drawn to a career in real estate. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska where his father was a builder & fire chief, he grew up in an environment that allowed him to observe how the professional world of developing, marketing, and selling residential properties operates. And throughout high school, he took classes to better understand the actual nuts-and-bolts of the construction end of the building. After graduation from high school, he put his construction skills to work to help pay his college tuition and worked both part-time and during summer breaks as both a contractor and designer near the schools he attended.
After living in the mid-west most of his life, and while a student at Trinity University in Chicago where he also worked on numerous homes on the North Shore of Lake Michigan, he decided he really wanted to live near the ocean and the mountains. In 1980 he moved to Montecito to attend Westmont College on a 1-year exchange program from Trinity University, he earned a BA in Psychology with a minor in Business, and after graduation went on to attend select classes at the University of La Verne. His time as a student at Westmont College also brought with it an opportunity to apply his design/construction skills to many residential properties in Montecito and Santa Barbara area, and eventually, he made the decision to begin selling the homes he once worked on and designed. Timm also has a passion for art and attended classes at the Brooks Institute of Photography.
In 1990 Timm began his career in real estate. Given his marketing and hands-on building experience, as well as a respect for a commitment from years of self-employment, he rapidly excelled to the status of top agent in the Santa Barbara area. Also, in 1990 he was awarded the Southern California Rookie of the Year Award and since then has consistently ranked in the top 1% of more than 90,000 agents nationwide. He has earned his ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative), CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist), and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Elite International Presidents Club, the Leading-Edge Society, and numerous Outstanding Performance Awards.
For over 41 years, Santa Barbara has been home for Timm, and he has invested his time generously in the community through his volunteer work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Cancer Society, The Red Cross Disaster Relief Program, Santa Barbara Foodbank, Elings Park Foundation, Nuevo Santa Barbara Symphony, and the Big Brothers Program. In the business community, he is a member of the Santa Barbara Board of REALTORS, Santa Ynez Board of Realtors, Ventura Board of Realtors, the S.B. Chamber of Commerce, the S.B. Multiple Listing Service, the California Association of REALTORS, and was a board member of Young Professionals of S.B.
“You know you’ve done your job well when people come back to you or continue to recommend you to their family and friends,” says Timm, who also states that repeat clients are the key to any business success. And he attributes his personal success to his childhood background, college education, and comprehensive marketing and business experience.
Timm is an innovative businessman in that he welcomes a challenge, not only in his professional life but also in his personal life, and especially with the one element that originally attracted him to California: the outdoors. Along with hobbies and interests that have allowed him to take advantage of Santa Barbara’s temperate climate, such as sailing, scuba diving, biking, swimming, volleyball, camping, hiking, photography, wine tasting, and gardening.
The passion of his adventurous spirit has drawn him to even broader outdoor challenges in climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 19,340 ft. the highest peak in Africa; hiking the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru; bungee jumping off the Zambezi Bridge, the highest bungee jump in the world at 340 ft.; white-water rafting on the Zambezi River in Africa; and freefall tandem skydiving in New Zealand. These personal accomplishments, and many more, are a complement to a professional perspective that demands excellence, integrity, and perseverance in every endeavor.
After 31 years as a real estate agent, Timm Delaney is respected within the real estate industry for his professionalism, and by his clients for proven sales results.
